Europe 2018 – Prague Day 2
This is the apartment building in Prague where we are staying. Our apartment has two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a common area with a kitchen and dining table. The tram stop is right outside the front door.
We did something a bit differently today. We downloaded the Rick Steves Europe app to our phones and downloaded the audio for the Prague City Walking Tour. We listened to Rick’s commentary as we walked the route. This was a great way to learn about the sights we passed.
The tour started at the National Museum at the top of Wenceslas Square. The museum is closed for renovation, but we got a picture of it. The tour continued down the square with a side-trip to a monastery garden, and into the Old Town Square.
Wenceslas Square
Old Town Square
Old Town Square has a number of churches and other buildings surrounding it. In the square is a monument to Jan Hus, a reformer. The other notable feature is the astrological clock on one of the churches. It rings the hour between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
We continued past the square to the Charles Bridge, then walked back through City Hall. From there we turned north into the Jewish Quarter where we saw several synagogues. Beyond the Jewish Quarter we photographed the Cech Bridge. We circled back to Concert Hall, then returned to our apartment.
Prague Street Scenes
In the evening we attended a concert of the Prague Symphony. The performed Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto 2 and Stravinsky’s Symphony No. 8. Both pieces we performed extremely well.
Caught up on the posts today. Recuping at home from hip replacement on the 12th.
Hope you are up and about soon.
Great pics Tim! Thanks for sharing! Be safe my friend!!
