This was an all-museum day as we visited four of them. After breakfast we set out for the metro and went to the Hungarian National Museum. We viewed their main exhibition of the history of the people of the area from the stone age forward.

Next we walked to the river where we had lunch on a park bench before continuing to the Ludwig Museum. The Ludwigs collected modern art for many years. They founded the museum and donated a large portion of their collection.

We got back on the tram and went to Heroes’ Square and the Kunsthalle, a museum containing 20th century art. Their main collection focuses on the “Life Reform” movement, which impacted art, music, dance, philosophy, and social order.

From Heroes Square we went tot he Robert Capa museum, which features 300 of his photographs from 1932 to 1954. He began photographing wars at age 13. He died in Viet Nam when he stepped on a land mine.
