The trip home is seldom as fun or exciting as the trip to any destination. The trip is just highways and gas stations. The evening stops on this trip were great, however. It’s 1625 miles from Terlingua, TX to my home in St. Petersburg, FL. I did the trip in 3 days, which was very comfortable.
On Monday I rode with Andy and Nancy to their home in New Braunfels, TX. We left at 6 and had an easy ride. It did rain the last 25 miles of the trip.
There are deer all over town. They hang out everywhere. These two are in Andy and Nancy’s yard.
On Tuesday I rode to Mandeville, LA and stayed again with Skip and Karen. Again I had about 25 miles of rain.
Wednesday was the last day. I rode through a couple hours of rain, but the rain and clouds kept the temperature down so the passage across the Gulf Coast was tolerable. I did get a little rain on US-19 in Florida so the string of rain-on-that-road is unbroken. I pulled into the garage in late afternoon.
I travelled 4563 miles in 13 days. After unpacking and showering it was time to relax. I washed the 5 For 5 mug I received in Kerrville (I’m one of 14 who have been to all 5 Shark Weeks) and filled it with a beer.
I don’t have much time for resting. We leave in a few days for New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Well be attending the Motor Maids convention in Moncton, NB.
