Beth writing here: Today was the last day of the Motor Maids convention in Cody. Results for the DR3 were posted at the Holiday Inn. I was the fifth place finisher in the A class (the class for those who have received a trophy in a previous DR3), which is just one off from receiving a trophy. I’m happy, because I was around eighth place last year, and I figured out how to compensate for my less-than-accurate trip odometer. There were to be no by-laws changes or elections to vote in at the business meeting, which was enough for a good many MMs to take a ride into the mountains or to Yellowstone instead of attending the meeting. We did decide that the 2012 convention will be in Spartanburg, SC. High mileage and recruitment awards were announced. The woman with the highest mileage for 2009 rode more than 41,000 miles! And she lives in Colorado, not even a state where you can ride year round. That’s an impressive accomplishment.
After the meeting, Tim and I rode up US 14A into the Big Horn National Forest. We climbed to nearly 10,000 feet and had to put the liners back in our jackets! The vistas were magnificent, especially the view from the top down into the basin. Words can’t even describe some of the scenery, so I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

We’ve been gathering our things and packinjg our bags in anticipation of an early start tlomorrow – about 530 miles to Grand Junction, Colo., to see our friends Pete & Sue Van Voorhees, whom we knew in Philadelphia in the 80s.
